  11. Interpreter TapeXchange tape unit and accompanying backup software
  12. has been tested as compatible with LANtastic versions 4.xx and
  13. 5.xx.

  15. Product Overview:
  16. The TapeXchange is a portable parallel printer port connected
  17. backup device. It's uniqueness allows it to be used for file server
  18. backup, as well as be available for all other backup needs (network
  19. or stand alone) since the tape unit is not permanently attached to
  20. the file server and requires no interface card to operate.

  22. Installing TapeXchange:
  23. Follow the manufactures recommended procedure for installation of
  24. TapeXchange. The software is licensed to the respective portable
  25. tape unit and as such may be installed on as many file servers or
  26. workstations as desired.

  28. TapeXchange Usage Notes:
  29. The TapeXchange tape unit and software allow the user to backup any
  30. physical or redirected drive that is connected to the PC where the
  31. TapeXchange unit is located. Therefore, to backup a disk drive on
  32. another machine requires that the remote PC must be running the
  33. LANtastic SERVER program. As an example, to backup the C: drive of
  34. a remote PC, enter the following:

  36.      NET LOGIN \\<Remote PC Machine Name> <Username> <Password>
  37.      NET USE T: \\<Remote PC Machine Name>\C-DRIVE 
  38.      TXPLUS (Use the backup program and backup redirected drive T:)

  42. Open File Conflicts:
  43. During the backup process, any open files are bypassed but are
  44. noted in a status log. At the termination of the backup session,
  45. the user may optionally review the log to determine which, if any,
  46. files were omitted from the backup.

  48. Prior to backing up a disk drive containing the LANtastic control
  49. directory, save the contents of the directory in a backup file by
  50. entering the command:

  52.      NET_MGR Backup C:\LANtasti.net <backup file name>
  53.  
  54. This can only be done without SERVER loaded.
